"Fashionable Impact" Fashion Show

North Dallas High School hosts charitable fashion show.

Local High School Girls Model in Charity Fashion Show

A fashion show in Dallas featured dozens of local faces. Girls from The Hockaday School marched across the stage on Sunday for an event called "Fashionable Impact." The show took place in the Hockaday High School theater and featured models from Pre-K to 12th Grade. Each one wore clothes from the Genesis Thrift Store in North Oak Lawn. They say their goal was to help girls and women at the Genesis Women's Shelter, and support the Akola Project. They also wanted to give each young model a moment in the spotlight, to give them a confidence boost.

"The whole mission of our show is to empower women," said show organizer Varsha Danda. "As the girls come in for their fittings to try on their clothes, we've been asking them questions about how they think they can empower themselves and why it's important to support other women," said Danda.

Danda worked with her classmate, Emma Roseman, for months to organize the show. Both are juniors at the all-girls high school.

"I've learned we all need to support everyone," said model Emmy Roberts before the show. Roberts was one of several dozen middle school aged girls participating.

Dozens of volunteers helped Danda and Roseman bring the show to life. The money made from "Fashionable Impact" ticket sales will be given to Genesis Women's Shelter and the Akola Project.
